Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to pump/clean my septic tank?

The solids in a septic tank do not disappear.  If they are left to build up too high over years of no maintenance, they can overflow with the fluids into the drain field. This will cause the Septic System to not function properly and eventually fail.

How often should I pump my septic tank?

We recommend every 1-3 years depending upon size of family and tank capacity.

Why is my tank full already when I just had it pumped a few weeks ago?

An average household of 4 people can use up to 150 gallons of water/day.  Septic System are designed to operate full of gray water for proper water/solids separation.

Why does my house smell like sewer?

Typically, it could be caused by issues with a trap, floor drain or roof vent.  Make sure floor drains and traps have water in them and that your roof vent is clear of any obstructions.

Why is my Septic alarm going off?
  • Lift pump or float could need replacement.
  • There may be a broken pipe.
  • Wire may be disconnected.
  • The drain field could be plugged or frozen.
